NAME - Qutub Minar.

MEDIUM - Red buffed sandstone and Marble.

CIRCA - 12th century AD (1206 AD).

DYNASTY COLLECTION - Started by (Qutub-al-din-aibk) and finished by Iltutmish.

LOCATION - Mehrauli, New Delhi.



SUBJECT MATTER :-

Qutub Minar tower is the highest tower in India, complete with five storeys and projecting balconies. The first three storeys of the Qutub Minar are made of red sandstone and the last two are made of marble and sandstone.

 

Qutub Minar was built to celebrate Muslim dominance in Delhi after the defeat of last Hindu Ruler of Delhi (Prithviraj Chauhan).


Qutub-al-din-aibk only constructed basement, Later Iltutmish made this complete.

DESCRIPTION :-


Qutub Minar is the historical monuments that is built by Qutub-al-din-aibk (only basement) and his son-in-law Iltutmish (completed the building).



It's height is 72.5 meter (239.5 feet).
Qutub means "pole" which would be a symbol of Justice and Minar means "building". Tower is situated near southern entrance gate called 
"Alai- darwaza" of "Quwwat-ul-islam-Masjit".



Qutub Minar was used by the Muslim priest for Worship (nawaj).
In the initial stage of Qutub Minar,It has 6 storeys (floors) but now it has only 5 storeys (floors). The size of its storeys decrease towards upward.


The storeys have been made by engraving red sandstone in specific shapes (some of polygonal and some of circular).
There are best Engraving Calligraphy on storeys of Qutub Minar.


The Top storey has been damaged during the regime of Firuz shah tughlaq having divided into two parts that is made with marble.
The upper two storeys of the Qutub Minar have been made with Red stone and white marble.


Qutab Minar has ladders inside to reach on different storeys. Qutub Minar took approx 21 years to built completely.
